SI: Going into Sectional, other than yourself, who would be the favorite?
Coach Thompson: I felt that North Daviess and Loogootee had amazing seasons. Both teams are well coached and I knew it would take a tremendous effort to beat those teams. SI: What has your team improved on since day one? Coach Thompson:I think we are much better at taking care of the basketball and valuing possessions. Our guys want to play fast and we are good at that, but that doesn't always win you games in March. We learned a lot from our loss at Carmel where we lost a lead down the stretch because of costly turnovers. SI: Who are your seniors and describe what each brings to the table? Coach Thompson: Brycen Graber - floor leader Curt Hopf - hardest working guy on the floor each and every night Jamison Miller - steady ball handling, ability to shoot the ball and stretch the floor, and Mr. Clutch at the FT line Devin Graber - the junk yard dog - always willing to do whatever it takes to win Tommy Kidwell - the assassin - best kept secret in southern Indiana - well the cat is out of the bag now Tyson Knepp - blue collar guy who is one of the most versatile defenders...has guarded guys from Jaylen Mullen to Blake Sisley Will Craig - one of the most athletic kids I've ever coached...tremendous energy guy that our guys love to cheer for when he comes into games. SI: Your Sectional had 3 highly ranked teams. What do you feel led you to victory in the Sectional? Coach Thompson: Our schedule. Playing one of the toughest schedules in the state regardless of class was the key to beating two very good basketball teams on Friday and Saturday. SI: Who are some of the top players in Regional? Coach Thompson: Tyler Myers - Evansville Day Tyler Goecker and Hudson Norton - Trinity Mason Miller and Jonas Powers - Lanesville |
