A walk-off single propelled Heritage Hills Softball to a decisive, dramatic victory over Pike Central, 3-2. The Patriots was down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Mayci Litherland singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Patriot pitchers struck out five, while Chloe Williams sat down four. Miriam Gordon earned the victory in the circle for Heritage Hills. The ace lasted one and one-third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one and walking one. Mia Kiegel threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Chloe Wiliams took the loss for Pike Central. She surrendered three runs on four hits over six and a third innings, striking out four. Rylie Schipp started the game for Heritage Hills. Schipp allowed three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one Mayci Litherland, Emma Day, Sarah Day and Rylie Schipp each collected one hit to lead the Patriots. Lexie Onyett led Pike Central with two hits in three at bats. Heritage Hills (8-2) will be back in action Wednesday at 4:30 against Tell City. Pike Central (5-3) will play again Thursday at Wood Memorial. Game time is at 6:00. |
The Jasper Wildcats (6-1) defeated the Heritage Hills Patriots (4-5) on Monday night at Ruxer Field 6-1. The Wildcats scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and never trailed.
The Wildcats knocked out 7 hits on the night, lead by 2 hit performances by Ben Henke, Kody Morton (triple) and Jack Ahlbrand. Mathew Wright also joined the hit parade with a 3 run double. The Patriots had 5 hits on the night. J. T Smallwood (double) had 2 hits for the Patriots. Smith, Evan Bowling and Colton Hopf all had 1 hit on the night. Matthew Wright got the win n the mound. Went went 5.2 innings, giving up 1 earned run, striking out 7 and walking 4. Andrew Noblitt came in to relieve Wright and struck out 1 Patriot. Camden Shipp stated for the Patriots. He pitched 5 innings and struck out 2. The Wildcats will be back in action tonight in a SIAC contest at home against Evansville Reitz at 6:00. The Patriots will play again tonight at home against the Pike Central Chargers. Game time is set for 5:00. |
The Heritage Hills Patriots (6-2) defeated the 9th ranked Boonville Pioneers 3-2 at Heritage High School on Thursday Night 3-2. The Patriots scored 2 runs in the first inning and the game winning run in the 5th Inning.
The Patriots had 7 hits in the game led by Mia Kiegel and Ali Gardner with 2 hits. Jenna McDowell, Rylie Schipp, Haley Leibering also contibuted 1 hit a piece. The Heritage Hills softball team defeated Evansville Reitz 5 to 4 at Lincoln city on Thursday night. Reitz scored 3 runs in the top of te 7th inning but the Patriots were still hold on for the victory.
