Tell City snatched the lead late in the game in a 4-2 victory over South Spencer on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with the Marksmen batting in the top of the ninth when Ross Melton singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Tell City opened up scoring in the first inning. Drew Kirtley drove in one when Kirtley singled. In the top of the fourth inning, the Marksmen tied things up at two. The Tell City Marksmen dropped a close game to Gibson Southern 3-0 at Gibson Southern.
Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound on Thursday, but Gibson Southern was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Tell City on Thursday. Max Fortwendel started the game for the Marksmen and recorded nine outs. Tell City lost despite out-hitting Gibson Southern three to two. A single by Alex Stiff in the second inning was a positive for the Marksmen. Fortwendel was on the hill for Tell City. Fortwendel surrendered one run on zero hits over three innings, striking out two. Stiff threw three innings out of the bullpen. Drew Kirtley, Landon Sandage, and Stiff all had one hit to lead the Marksmen. Tell City will play again Saturday at home when they play Evansville Christian at 10:00. |
Boonville built an eight-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Tell City charge for an 8-6 victory on Wednesday. The Marksmen scored five runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Landon Sandage in the fourth, a sacrifice fly by Coy Hammack in the fourth, a double by JC Buckendahl in the fifth, and a wild pitch during Sandage's at bat in the fifth.

Tell City totaled nine hits in the game. Buckendahl and Ferrand each had multiple hits for Tell City. Boonville (9-9) will be back in action at home against North Posey at 5:00.
